ABOUT GEA


BACKGROUND

GEA is a Non-Governmental organization abbreviated as Green Environmental Activists established in 2012 and formerly registered in January 2014 with a registration number 00NGO/00006902 under the registration act of 2002. 

GEA was formed by a group of people whose interests are to address environmental issues and improve Community livelihood through environmental conservation



VISION
GEA envisions for Tanzania Community members live an improved life with conserved environment and healthy prosperity.


MISSION STATEMENT
GEA exists to facilitate Tanzania community members acquire better life through capacity building, lobbying, advocacy, research, networking and community mobilization campaigns /meetings, on issues related to food security, environmental conservation and sanitation, entrepreneurship, HIV/AIDS prevention and gender equity, with consideration to accountability and human rights.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
  • To promote environmental management and utilization for increased land productivity, resilience, adaptation and mitigation of negative impact of climate change issues. 
  •  To strengthen community’ initiatives on proper and sustainable agricultural practices
  •  To reinforce gender equity, human rights, sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS issues.
  •  To facilitate economic empowerment to most marginalized community groups for addressing economic injustices
  •  To promote tourism features/opportunities found in southern Tanzania and undertake measures that are aimed at conserving environment
